Refrigerated Air Dryers
Refrigerated Air Dryers use a refrigeration cycle to dry the compressed air and remove any kind of moisture or water vapor that is present in air due to humidity. Basically there is a refrigerant gas like R134a or R404a etc which is compressed with the help of a small gas compressor / refrigerant compressor and then once compressed it is expanded with the help of an expansion valve. This compression and expansion of refrigerant makes the temperature of the refrigerant drop to around -20 Deg C. With a help of a heat exchanger the cold gas pipes exchange temperature with the compressed air pipes thus making the compressed air cooled down to around 3 to 5 Deg C where all the moisture or water vapor present in compressed air condenses to form water which can be easily trapped and removed with the help of an automatic drain valve.
