Oil-Lubricated Two Stage Reciprocating Piston type Air Compressors
Two Stage reciprocating air compressors. Piston type machines which require oil to be put in the crank case for lubrication. This type of technology comes under positive displacement technology. These are the most commonly used machines. Being oil lubricated they have more life than the oil free machines. Very often used for pneumatic applications because the pneumatic cylinders need some small amount of oil to enter the chamber for smoother operation and avoid rusting which is why an F+R+L is used which is a Filter + Regulator + Lubricator. Air passes through two stages of compression or two pistons which is why it is called two stage compression process. Usually there is a finned tube between each piston which acts like an inter-cooler for the compressed air in the air compressors.
